The Washington Poison Center (WAPC) is GROWING and we are HIRING! Are you looking to succeed, excel, and thrive in an innovative and independent poison center?
Located in Seattle, WAPC call volume is growing and requests for more operational and programmatic services are increasing, necessitating the need to hire additional specialists in poison information (SPIs) who are seeking unique opportunities for their careers.
We are an AAPCC accredited center with a dedicated, well-trained and experienced staff. We have very low turnover, average staff retention is 18.5 years, and 93% of SPIs are certified (CSPIs). Our staff and leadership are active at the local, state and national level with public health and governmental partners, including emergency preparedness. We have very proactive and energetic educational departments, with educators in both Eastern and Western Washington, which are helping to improve our message to the community, as well as to the health care facilities.
We have a robust healthcare provider education program that includes medical students, medical residents/fellows, as well as nursing, pharmacy and paramedic students. WAPC encourages professional development and provides SPIs opportunities to be involved in educational, outreach, research, and legislative activities beyond their core responsibilities. In addition, we offer a Career Improvement Program that allows our SPIs to acquire and/or enhance their knowledge and skills in a particular area.
WAPC offers an attractive benefit package, including medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance, long-term disability, holidays, sick leave, 401(k), flexible spending accounts for medical and childcare, and free parking. We also offer a competitive salary based on market comparison, skills and experience.
In addition to a traditional Specialist in Poison Information (SPI) position, we are also hiring two positions that merge unique off-line duties with traditional on-line poison center duties. Off-line duties include, but are not limited to, data collection/analysis/reporting, staff supervision, research, quality and process improvement that provide these individuals to be innovative in their approach to development and implementation.
