The Washington Poison Center is not your average call center. We have a unique staff of licensed healthcare professionals from nurses to pharmacists and physicians who are all trained in toxicology and patient management. With backgrounds in pediatrics, community practice and emergency medicine, our staff are able to handle a variety of different calls and patient cases. As a core member of the public health community, the WAPC has expanded its services to support local health jurisdictions by providing after-hours answering service support on a contract basis. Not only does the after-hours call get answered, it’s answered by a healthcare professional who can go the extra step and provide clinical expertise if warranted.
