Yes, exposure levels have dropped since lead was removed from paint and gasoline decades ago. But in Washington—and across the U.S.—lead is still present in the places people live, work, and play. And, because we’re not consistently testing for it, much of that exposure is going undetected.
There is no safe level of lead. Even small amounts can cause lasting harm, especially for children.
