Partnership in Healthcare Campaign

The Partnership in Healthcare Campaign strengthens our collaboration with hospitals, health systems, and insurers so that every Washington resident has access to fast, expert toxicology support. Together, these partners help sustain our critical role in reducing avoidable hospitalizations, improving patient outcomes, and supporting coordinated, cost-effective care across our state.

Sharing expertise

Hospital Partnerships

More than 29% of patients we treat are with healthcare facilities. Our Hospital Campaign is an opportunity to invest in continued access to expert medical toxicologists 24/7/365.

Our specially trained pharmacists, nurses, and board-certified physicians become an extension of the care team from the very first call, giving immediate guidance and on-going case consultation. We’re deeply grateful to our hospital partners across the state who invest in our services help make this essential lifeline possible. To learn more, Michele Meaker, Chief Development Officer, at 206-517-2355 or via email here.

Saving Money

Insurance Partnerships

In 2025, we saved insurance companies an estimated $30 million in direct costs from avoided claims when people called us first instead of going to the ER or doctor. We also saved an additional $24 million by consulting with providers on patients already at a facility because we reduced admissions and length of stay.

We also offer a valuable service to enrollees – saving stress, time, and expense.

We aim to help patients stay safe at home. In fact, we keep more than 90% of patients out of the ER. We follow patients from start to finish, ensuring their health and safety until the issue is resolved. When people call the poison center first, instead of 911 or their doctor, they save their insurer the time and expense of processing their claim. When patients do go to the ER, our experts consult with the attending physicians to help avoid hospitalization when possible, shorten the stay, and use most cost-effective treatments – all resulting in lower cost for health insurance companies.

“Washington Poison Center is an integral part of our team in the pediatric emergency department at Mary Bridge, even though they are not located within our department. The poison center provides essential support for the frequent cases of poisonings and ingestions we see. No question is too big or too small, and they are always ready to help.

Their outreach efforts also help us keep kids safe and reduce the number of poisonings in the community. Thank you, Washington Poison Center,  for everything that you do!”

Community Partnerships

Every community in Washington needs access to information and resources to stay safe and healthy. To help us reach our state’s 8 million residents, we work closely with community groups, local organizations, schools, and local and state government. Together, we explore the unique needs of each community and deliver tailored education, prevention programs, and 24/7 expert support.

Engaging the next generation

Annual Poster Contest

Partner with us by using our ready-made materials to promote our annual Poison Prevention Poster Contest. The poster contest engages Washington youth in creative, educational work that teaches poison‑prevention awareness. Your outreach helps us raise visibility for the contest, encourages young people across communities to learn about poison safety, and spreads life‑saving messages far and wide.
