Snake Bite

Snakes are prevalent throughout Washington State. Venomous snakes in the wild are limited to Eastern Washington.

How toxic is it?

Venomous Bites (Western Rattle snake) 

Symptoms: 

  • Venom causes severe swelling, pain, and venom can inhibit the body’s ability to form blood clots.

Non-Venomous Bites (most Washington snakes besides rattlesnake ) 

Symptoms:

  • Bite are treated as puncture wounds and while somewhat painful should not cause swelling or systemic symptoms
