Unsafe Foods for Pets
Don’t Give Your Pets Table Scraps
It is hard to resist their begging, but many “people” foods can be harmful to animals.
WAPC recommends that you do not give the following foods to your pet:
- Alcohol
- Avocados—toxic to birds, mice, rabbits, horses, cattle & goats
- Chocolate (any)—poisonous to dogs, cats & ferrets
- Coffee (grounds & beans)
- Fruit seeds
- Garlic
- Hops (used in home beer brewing)
- Macadamia nuts
- Moldy foods
- Mushrooms
- Mustard seeds
- Nutmeg
- Onions & onion powder
- Pits from apricots, cherries or peaches
- Plums, raisins & grapes
- Potato leaves, stems (green parts)
- Rhubarb leaves
- Salmon (any)—poisonous to dogs
- Salt
- Tea (caffeine)
- Tomato leaves & stems (green parts)
- Walnuts
