Volunteer

The Washington Poison Center needs your help.

We are looking for volunteers to help out in the office a few hours each week. Due to the significant state funding cuts we received (over $1.5 million in cuts), we have had to lay off all of the administraion and support staff. However, we still have a great need to distribute poison prevention materials (ie., Mr. Yuk Stickers), help with the occasional health and safety fairs, and assist with general office duties.

This would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to help a non-profit a few hours a week or for someone that wants some office experience while looking for a job.

Benefits:

  • Working in a professional office with nurses, doctors, pharmacist, and other healthcare professionals
  • Free Mr. Yuk T-shirt and as many Mr. Yuk Stickers as you want
  • Working with the public on poison prevention education messaging
  • Learning how to operate within a professional working admin office (inventory, mail order, copying, computer skills, communication skills, etc)
  • Flexible hours and a fun work environment
  • Gain experience with a statewide well known public service agency
  • Network within a professional public healthcare arena

Prior office skills is not required. The volunteers must be at least 18 years old. We will train. See below for the volunteer job description and application. The volunteer location is in North Seattle near the Northgate mall.

To apply, please fill out the application form (PDF or WORD doc) and fax or mail it to the address or number located on the form or email communications@wapc.org. Questions, contact Autumn Allen at 206-517-2352.
